Where have transparency and rounded corners gone?

So, transparency effects and rounded corners seen in the Threshold-based website are removed, starting from Technical Preview 1. But why?

We did this because we want to increase compatibility with unstable systems and systems that don't have Direct3D. We are also planning to support Opera GX, including the "Force dark pages" feature. Another advantage of this is that you can make battery economy.

Load times:

Opera GX:

Threshold site ->12.3 seconds

Hercules site -> 8.5 seconds

Microsoft Edge:

Threshold site -> 4.3 seconds

Hercules site -> 3.3 seconds

RAM usage:

Opera GX:

Threshold site ->58MB

Hercules site -> 56MB

Microsoft Edge:

Threshold site -> 45MB

Hercules site -> 44MB

These numbers actually prove that this change is very important and actually mobile-friendly. You can save 1,5 megabytes of RAM, just because of this change!

Thank you,

The Website Developers
